Derek Gardner was born in 1914 and educated at Oundle. He reached the rank of Commander in the R.N.V.R.
After a series of seven one-man shows at the Polak Gallery in London he became Hon. Vice-President of the R.S.M.A. for life. His works can be seen in the National Maritine Museum, Greenwich.
